MEETINGS

TAKE THE FIRST STEP -- COME TO AN SAA MEETING!

What are SAA meetings like?  SAA meetings in Albuquerque are small gatherings of (usually 5-20) people struggling with sex addiction and a sincere desire to recover.  There are no dues or fees.  We are not a membership, we are a voluntary fellowship, so there is no "application" process, or any other formality.  In fact, SAA operates on the basis of confidentiality and anonymity.  So, we never use our last names and everyone feels safe knowing our identities and stories will never be discussed outside the meeting.  Attending a meeting does not obligate someone to talk or participate -- sometimes it helps just to listen.  SAA IS NOT A PLACE TO MEET SEXUAL PARTNERS! (If that is your intention, please do not attend).  Meetings are a standard, structured one hour format similar to other 12 Step programs.  Someone volunteers to chair the meeting, there are introductory readings/meditations/topics, then all who wish to may share.  SAA meetings are NOT therapy!  In fact, we abstain from giving any advice at all.  Anyone with a desire to stop addictive sexual behavior is welcome, and newcomers will find acceptance and support.
